Puttalam Quarry is a large, predominantly sulphate ilmenite deposit, located in the Puttalam District of Sri Lanka, approximately 170 kilometers from the capital Colombo. The mineral sands ore lies above a limestone deposit, currently mined by a local company. Iluka is currently conducting a preliminary feasibility study for a mineral sands mining and processing development at Puttalam.
